Maintenance Foreman Jobs in Doha – Job Overview
QD-SBG Construction is seeking a PMV Maintenance Foreman in Qatar for its PMV and maintenance team supporting construction operations. The vacancy lists Doha as the city and Al Daayen, Zone 69, Doha as the workplace. The role focuses on vehicle and heavy equipment maintenance and repairs within a construction setting, where equipment condition affects the work teams can carry out.
Job description
In general, a PMV maintenance foreman guides repairs across plant, machinery and vehicles. The following workflow explains typical practice for this occupation. Work starts with a clear picture of equipment condition and planned site use. The foreman reviews operator reports, service records and upcoming maintenance needs. However, a report of poor performance rarely explains the cause by itself. The foreman asks when the problem started and what the operator noticed. That information helps separate a new fault from a recurring issue. Before assigning work, the foreman checks which machines need attention first and which can wait safely.
Once priorities are clear, the foreman defines the repair task with the technician. This includes the equipment identity, reported symptoms and the limits of the planned inspection. Before work begins, the team needs safe access and control of stored energy. Raised attachments, hydraulic pressure and hot parts can cause harm even after an engine stops. So the foreman checks the isolation steps against the equipment guidance. If a task needs lifting equipment or specialist help, the team must arrange that first. Site staff also need to know which equipment they cannot use during the work.
Checks and exception handling
During diagnosis, the foreman helps the technician test causes rather than replace parts by guesswork. For example, an excavator may lose hydraulic power after it warms up. The foreman would first compare the operator's account with the conditions during a controlled check. Then the technician can inspect fluid condition and take readings against the manufacturer's guidance. A low reading alone does not prove that the pump has failed. If the cause remains unclear, the foreman keeps the machine out of service for further checks. The site supervisor needs a clear update on the fault and the next decision, not an unsupported repair completion time.
After the team identifies a fault, the foreman turns the findings into a repair plan. The plan sets out the work sequence, parts and technical support the task needs. Part numbers and equipment details matter because similar machines can use different components. Before fitting a replacement, the technician checks that it matches the correct specification. Meanwhile, the foreman compares the expected repair time with the resources actually available. If a part is unavailable, the foreman explains the delay to the person coordinating equipment use. A temporary repair should never replace a safe solution simply to save time.
Coordination and completion
Completing the repair does not automatically make the equipment ready for use. The foreman checks that the team has restored guards, connections and other disturbed parts. Next, the technician carries out suitable functional checks under controlled conditions. These checks should address the original complaint as well as the repair itself. The foreman compares the results with the equipment guidance before recommending release. If readings remain outside the allowed limits, the team needs further diagnosis. Clear test results help the person responsible for release decide the next step. Operators also need to understand any remaining limits on equipment use.
The listing also the foreman makes sure the repair record explains what the team found and changed. A useful record links the reported fault, test findings, parts used and final checks. This gives the next technician a starting point if the problem returns. Also, repeated faults can reveal a wider maintenance need rather than several unrelated breakdowns. The foreman can use those patterns to suggest closer inspections or changes to maintenance planning. At handover, the next responsible person needs the equipment status and any unfinished actions. This closes the job clearly while keeping unresolved work visible to maintenance and site staff.
Typical Duties & Responsibilities
- Keep a service due list using recorded dates or operating hours to flag upcoming maintenance.
- Assign repair tasks according to technician capability, with a named person responsible for each job.
- Check workshop tools for visible damage and arrange replacement before anyone uses unsafe equipment.
- Track outstanding spare parts requests so each delayed job has a clear follow-up action.
- Inspect stored service materials for damage or contamination before the team uses them on equipment.
- Record outside repair requests and check returned work against the original scope before accepting completion.
- Review open job records to find work without progress updates and confirm the next action.
- Check completed work areas for loose items and spills before returning the space to normal use.
Candidate Profile
Prepare a truthful example of how you reduced overdue servicing across several machines. Explain how you checked the records, set priorities and measured the result.
